Certification is one of the methods to measure the effectiveness of implementation and compliance with the requirements of a standard. Certification is very important in assuring consumers that the product or service meets specifications. The Malaysian palm oil industry has currently adopted numerous certification schemes to meet the demands of domestic and foreign consumers. Among the certification schemes that are being actively implemented is the MPOB Code of Practice.

The CoP contains the relevant elements necessary for the formulation of systematic sets of activities that ensure standards and procedures are adhered to, and that products or services delivered meet customers’ requirements.
